Is public transportation available to the Fairmont hotel? If so, from which direction or suburb? I'm looking for an alternate hotel. I don't want to rent a car and hotels in the price range I'm looking at will probably be 15+ miles away from the Fairmont.

Yes, but it won't be easy. Look for a hotel near the "Dart light Rail" . Fairmont is about a 10 min walk from the West End Station.

I walk to the DART station a few blocks away. DART covers most of the DFW area so chances are you can get where you need to be.
