If you could keep your dog out of the water and away from the layer of dead fish it would be okay. Not a place I would put on the pet friendly list.
Im a dog owner and always looking for good places to bring my dog. Im also a fan of the salton sea and i visit a couple times every year along with joshua tree. However, I would only bring my dog if I was passing through, but not if I planned to camp there. Its a bird sanctuary, so dogs must be kept leashed at all times. My dog hates that. Also, its usually way too hot to leave the dog in a vehicle. I figure its best for both dogs and wildlife in this case to leave them home on that outing. Joshua tree is not really dog friendly either...ive never brought my dog with me on this trip. Just not enough stuff to do together.
It depends on what part of the Salton Sea Recreation you you are going to the North Shore where they have Corvina Beach and the Salton Sea Recreation Area is like any other state-run facility. And then if you go to the bottom of the Salton Sea by Niland and redhill Campground that place does not have the greatest traction's you can use your camper motorhome or sleeping in a tent at Red Hill it's right around the corner from Sonny Bono Wildlife Refuge
Absolutely...as long as they don't fight with the others😓 this place is AWESOME
Oh yeah, the staff there is friendly. I had the pleasure of working with them; and i saw them interact with the visitors and they where nothing but pleasant and friendly.
I let my dogs run free but you need to consider the presence of birds and tons of dead fish on the shore. The smell is not pleasant ether. You should check it out and form your own opinion.
Yes
The Salton Sea Recreational Area allows dogs, they must be on a leash no longer than 6ft long. The sea is an important stop over point for migrating birds, and loose dogs could cause undue stress to the birds.
Yes, as long as they are on a leash.
Anything going on in 2018?
All of the above. 😀
