This is an amazing renovation of the 1950's era Yacht Club. I first saw it around 2008, when it was just a hull of an old bar. Now, it serves as a local community center. What a great comeback.

There needs to be more to explain about the social and environmental story behind salton sea. It is a fascinating story about the destructive nature of man. The place is eery, the smell from the now quite toxic lake is very very strong. The beaches are made of fish bones and scales- again because of the destructive power of man. There was not a single boat or person on the lake which is an amazing shame.

I believe you can but you have to check with the number listed on the info. Also Desert Recreation District is in charge of the programs. They have a few programs for kids, adults (fitness center, zumba) and senior program.
