We stayed at the Marriott near the Coliseum. It is approximately 1 mile away. They are performing some remodels. Restaurant on site is delicious. We are using book it .com best prices.

I'd Google cheap motel's, hotels close to the convention center, & follow up with a call. Although I doubt that you will find something reasonable in the downtown area.

Holiday Inn Knoxville N - Merchant Drive is about 5 miles to the convention center. Keep in mind there's Holiday inn right at the center. Pricey. But nice
