They hold onto animals as long as they possibly can based on how much space they have, how friendly and how healthy the animal is. They have a high adoption rate and do very well. In fact, the vast majority of animals entering this facility either return to their owners or go to new owners. Owners thinking of leaving an animal there should understand it should be a last resort after trying other options. It is the best place to bring an animal you find that doesn't belong to you as it is the first place and central location for owners to look for their pet. Best Friends in Mission Hills only takes animals from shelters. Not from owners or off the street. Pasadena provides services for th Pasadena residents.
No, this unfortunately is not a no kill shelter. If you abandon a pet for whatever reason they make him or her available for adoption after 2 days without counting the day of the abandonment, if I am not mistaking! But if they don't find anyone to adopt him or her fast they will certainly euthanize him or her on the pretext that there is not enough room for other animals to b accommodated in their kennels! Try to google best friends animal society in Mission Hills or Pasadena humane society at 361 south Raymond Avenue, these are certainly no kill shelters! Good Luck!
That’s great news! I had to surrender a cat after my divorce and I did not want to see him put down as he is a great great family cat.
Also, there's rescues for almost every breed of cats and dogs.
