Yes, you have to be 16 years old to volunteer just for fun or for school credit. But I will advise you to be very careful if you decide to volunteer here because this institution has absolutely no mercy for the pain and suffering of others. After volunteering with them for 4 and a half years the woman who was in charge of all the volunteers made fun of me for being blind. She put herself in front of me to make me trip on purpose, pulled my shades, bumped me in to everythig and hid my phone and my purse. When I reported her to the captain everyone applauded her and got rid of the blind one with no regard for her efforts or her feelings. She did all this to test my reaction and everyone approved of it. Their cruelty is absolutely incredible it knows no boundaries.
You can also volunteer here for school credit
Call the shelter and ask. I'm assuming you might need to be 16 but I'm not really sure.
