Some caps are different type of plastic (or metal) than the main container which requires separation. Sometimes that means a real person has to unscrew the cap. Imagine a job where you spent all day taking the caps off of containers. Personally I would NOT leave caps on any container. Call your recycler for their preference. While much CAN be recycled, IMO, what you are trying to achieve is making it easier for the recycling service. Some services have gone out of business because the market for the recycled products can no longer justify the labor (and other) costs of operating a business. Like any business, they must make a profit. Labor costs are only a portion of their business costs.
We always do, don't know if that's their preference or not. They can give you a list. There's more recyclable than you think
