One hour would not be enough time for the beauty of Muir woods.
We did a tour. Is rather have 1 hour than nothing but would FAR rather have had much longer
What I have noticed for the tourist is that people usually walk the boardwalk, which is short, and then they're done. But there are many long trails that can have you being in the park all day. I think it's a nice introduction and if you like Muir woods you can always come back and spend a whole day there!:)
One can barely scratch the surface in an hour.
One hour would be enough to make you fall in love and encourage you to come back.
We had about 1 hrs 15 min in Muir and 50 min in Sausalito. Need 2.5 hr. in Muir and 2 hrs. in Sausilito, minimum!
For Muir woods you need whole day and maybe a 2nd day, it is a lot to explore and see throughout the trails. Sausalito may take 3hrs at least.
If you just want to "dip your toes" and take a few pictures, an hour is fine. If you want to do anything other than say, "look at my pics, I technically went to these places" it won't be enough time. Muir woods is majestic and awe inspiring, and Sausalito is a cute waterfront town with lots of shopping/restaurants and a great view.
I went on a tour to Muir Woods and they gave us an hour and a half to explore until we had to go back to the bus but trust me when I say that wasn't enough time to explore Muir Woods that was only enough time to walk from the gift shop to the end of the boardwalk but in a rushed manner
My son and I did the half day tour of Muirwoods and Sausalito. We enjoyed the tour very much. We picked the short tour due I have a broken back. If you want to explore in depth the half day will be too short. If you are happy just visiting and not wanting to do long hiking than the half day is prefect for it. Take an umbrella if you are planning winter tour and waterproof camera. We went in early December and it was raining alot.
No way! Earmark at least 4 hours for Muir Woods.
