Highly suggest you make reservations for your parking. It absolutely makes it so much easier to park. The first parking area you come to the normally have a sign up showing it is full. If you got a reservation just stop there and let the person know. The woods them self are really interesting. The hike to make a circle is 2 miles long.

Easy trail with peaceful running creek water by the side and one with nature. Family friendly trail with option of 3 loop lengths depending on energy and strength levels and lots of benches if someone wants to wait while others want to hike more.

Fully recommended. It is a half-day trip from SF downtown to the Muir Woods. You can do longer hiking tours or just stroll around for 1,5h on well prepared paths. The trees are amazing, nature at is best. At certain spots and times, you can listen to Park Rangers giving some lovely insights. There is a small gift shop as well, combined with a small picnic-area. The restrooms are in good condition, overall the park is well maintained. We booked a guided tour from SF Union Square with a stop at the Golden Gate Bridge and in Sausalito. But you can do that tour also on your own.

Muir Woods is a magical place. The air is fresh and clean, and it’s surprisingly quiet. March weather was beautiful, a little bit chilly but perfect for hiking. Lots of different trails and gorgeous trees and scenery. Definitely a must see in San Francisco.

Def reserve parking. The lot is right by the entrance to the monument. You will walk by the visitor center after entering.
Yes, National Parks Pass is accepted.
In the parking lot
Not dogs allowed
You need to reserve parking in advance. I don't think there is guided tour
Was just in a tour there recently and we took a bus with a tour company. The road was very steep, narrow, and winding. Unless you are very comfortable and skilled on a bike, I wouldn't recommend that method to get to Muir Woods. Sorry can't say on the time to get there, but I imagine it would take a while as a beginner on those hills.
Seniors can get a pass, not sure if by car or head, Check natl. Park web.
In the morning the day is cool and you will need long clothes. As the day progresses and you begin to walk, you will have heat. I recommend detachable pants
There is no cell service at the woods as it is in a valley. There may be a public phone from which you can call a taxi. I recommend taking the shuttle, though.
No idea. I stayed in San Jose, too far away. Try Sausalito or other upper Bay towns.
