You could replace it yourself. The battery kit comes with the screw drivers to remove the bottom of the case. https://www.laptopbatteryexpress.com/Apple-MacBook-Pro-15-A1382-Battery-p/app-a1382.htm I can could do it, but there would be a labor charge and sales tax. The batteries are cheaper on eBay, but it might be harder to get support if there’s an issue with the battery.
First, MANY thanks for your response. I've ordered the battery which was more than others I looked at, but I want to be sure I've got the best one and I don't want to argue on Ebay about it, so I appreciate your recommendation. I ordered it a slow way to escape shipping and with the holiday mail, could arrive even slower. So, when it arrives I'll take a look at what's required and see if I'm up to it. My husband and I are writers. We use a computer every single day, but don't feel at all confident about the back end. I used to have several techie friends who lived in W.Me and who I could ask questions of or get servicing from, but they all moved to the coast. I really need someone who can do tech related things out here, so I'm very pleased to have found you. We live in Lovell. Thanks again. BTW, Have a Great Thanksgiving. You just made mine.
