If you are homeless vet SOS has options for you
Reginald, your question raises more questions than answers. Most concerning, too me, are the ethical and possibly criminal origins of your puppy. My advice is to contact animal control or the spca (they are almost across the street from each other) and ask for guidance. Don't be surprised if you are asked how the puppy found its way to you. Depending on the breed, additional red flags are likely to raise questions about local laws and regulations that may have been violated. Here's the thing, either you found a stray puppy somewhere which seems highly unlikely but not impossible. Another possibility is that you bought your puppy from a breeder. Local law was recently passed that bans puppy mill operations so if you purchased the dog from a stranger or a friend or family member, that purchase might be in violation of the new regulations designed to protect the health and welfare of puppies like yours.
