A great adoption facility. I appreciate the wonderful work this agency is doing to help animals. I made it through the entire facility without anyone approaching me or asking about my interests. So, if it can go either way: good if you’re window shopping.

Stormy broke her arm...They referred us to Lenity whose folks are the BOMB! SPCA really cares about animals and they are very busy with alot of covid protocols.

I've been taking my cats here for vet service for almost 20 years. I love this place. Everyone is knowledgeable and friendly. I've also adopted here and found the process very straightforward. Whatever it is you're going for, the SPCA staff will be able to help you.

They have a new facility that is way more comfortable for everyone! Dogs and animals look happy. Ran pretty smooth for these CV19 times... Plan to take a while. We went in on a Sunday at 12 when they opened and left at about 2... If you are getting a puppy sign up for the behavior classes while you are waiting! Pro tip

We have a husky for adoption she is beautiful and one blue eye one brown eye 4 years old and Very affectionate
I don't know but I believe that they have a phone number at the SPCA in San Francisco you can call Monday through Friday and ask check their website they should have information on adopting a dog puppies or kitty cats good luck
There are places to put you dog up at pet hotels but i don't know if they allow long term housing for your pooch. If you take your dog to the SPCA they might assume that you want to put your dog up for adpotion. The best bet in my opinion is to keep your dog with you, you will regret it as soon as you leave the shelter. I don't know your story but keep the dog or if you have a friend that you see all the time see if they can house your pooch while you get stablized. In my honest opinion Vickie keep your dog with you, both you and your dog will be happy.
There is a whole room of bunnies for adoption. You can find them on the second floor
Yes, you can see and meet dogs before adoption.
Yeah of course. I adpot my self a puppy outside San Francisco all the way in sacramento.
Yes! Check out the website sfspca.org for current available dogs. If you’re wanting a REALLY older dog try our neighbor Muttville.
We just walk in no appointments needed.
Walk in's are okay!
No idea sorry 😐
I don't know. But if you give them a call I'm sure they can help ya out
Right now: They’re having a Happy Pawlidays Adoptions Special through December 31st, 2021! Cats (7yrs+): FREE Adult Cats: $50 Kittens: $125
Call SPCA and ask or check the website.
You might check their website, sfspca.org I believe.
They have older ones, mixed ones, sometimes puppies. Have to check the website often.
I believe they're still not allowing people to view the animals in person, but check their website, where you should be able to find descriptions and photos of all available animals.
They have the cutest puppies there. Muttville is a great place if you want a older dog and animal care and control is on the other side of the parking lot. They work together very well
Just check the website. Or animal care and control. They are in the same parking lot.
Yes
I'm sure if you go there, you can adopt a dog. you just have to pay the fee.
If you want to adopt a kitten, they reccomend to get 2, so they keep each other company. And you will pay only for 1.
Don't know. Had my dog vaccinated
I don't know about San Francisco but I know the San Mateo SPCA website is easy to navigate and adopt and choose your puppy.
You can be seen through emergency between 8-5 daily at the mission campus, or between 7am-12am at the fillmore street location. I believe the emergency exam fee is $125. (I was there with my pup last month)
Your best bet is to check their website
Go on line, there are pictures of adop able dogs.
That'll be so unfair to the lil one.. please wait until the right one comes your way
Puppies adoption fee was $300.00 for my chihuahua/terrier. If you do the free parent class that fee 8s reduced. I took the parent class and the puppy manners class because it was super helpful.
I agree with JC go and check out their website and pick out a few. Then with your grandfather, if possible, go to the SPCA and have him check out the dogs. They have a little area that people can use to get close to the dogs and play with them a little bit. Good luck.
No sorry. Im a cat lady.
Yes
They keep getting newcomers, without any preferences of breeds. The listings on the web site are pretty up to date, to my knowledge. You may check there, but the best is visiting in person.
No, they don't offer grooming here
When I was there, there were a few pits up for adoption. So I would have to say yes they are good with pitbulls. I hate the stigma that has labeled pits.
Yes, you can choose by yourself. Generally, a handling fee of 100 is enough.
No
Are you wanting to adopt puppy chihuahuas? If so, visit the SPCA and ask. If you want to surrender puppies, we always welcome them.
No 😂
Yes! It's a "Clear the Shelters" event. We open at 10am.
I believe SF animal control, not SPCA. They have a website
Yes you can volunteer and you can play with German shepherd puppies if they have them.
Call and they'll email the paperwork
It depends on breed, size etc. For my " little man" the adoption fee was $150.00
I know their vet chips but I'm unsure of the cost. I would call and ask
Yes. They have dogs of all sizes, breeds and age. You can check on their website for who is available but it's best to go in person.
The adoption fees for dogs are the same regardless of breed excluding pit bulls which the adoption process is slightly different. There is no guarantee that they will have a specific breed BUT all hope is not lost because they have an extensive list of breed specific rescue organizations etc. who are always looking for loving homes to adopt out your next best friend whether your looking for a younger more energetic playful pal or an older mature mellow fella. Adoption is a beautiful selfless act which not only saves a life but also gives love, shelter and care to the most vulnerable.
Possibly, you would have to go and check for yourself. They've all kinds of dogs.
Don't think so! You can check by going to the SPCA website and click on link Adoption then Dog. Most of them will be a wonderful group of mix breeds. If you really want a pure Rhodesian Ridgeback to adopt try some of the rescue groups around Bay Area, like the Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue of Northern California. They rescue dogs of the breed and try to find new owners. Word of Advice from whom used to own 3 dogs of SPORT breeds like the Rhodesian : Make sure your life style and schedule will allow you to spend enough time exercising he/she on a daily basis otherwise they can get bored and create bad behavior!
Yes, there is an adoption fee for all the animals however they do have events throughout the year where adoption fees are waived and or greatly reduced. They also have elder animals at a reduced fee. FYI the elder animals are purrrfectly healthy unless they have diabetes or something specific which is always noted on their cage card. Elder doesn't always mean 20yrs old either they are typically over age 5 and I have to say from personal experience here they are some of the sweetest loving and gentle ever.
Here's, as per SF SPCA website, the fees for adopting a dog : Standard Dog Adoption Fees$175 dogs* $350 puppy adoptions for people who have not attended our free Puppy Parent Orientation class (puppies under 6 months)*50 percent OFF puppy adoptions for people who have attended our free Puppy Parent Orientation class (puppies under six months, $175)* Additional discounts may be offered for cats or dogs who arrived as bonded pairs. Double the love and inquire at the adoption desk for more information! *At the time of adoption, San Francisco residents pay a $23 San Francisco dog license fee.
It's pretty rare that they have Shiba Inus. If you really have your heart set on that breed, I'd recommend looking up a Shiba Inu rescue in your area.
Yes. Go to the SF SPCA and click the Adoption link then Dogs and you should see the dogs available for adoption!
