It took just over 4 years to build the golden gate bridge, and apparently the painting of the bridge was directed by a man called Rocky Dellarocca and it supposedly took them 2 decades!
January 5, 1933, and the Bridge opened to vehicular traffic on May 28, 1937. Total of 4 years.

It was built in the 30's. How long it took to build and paint I'm not sure,but nowadays it's constantly painted year round.
