If you enter through the Yorba Linda side you will be able to see more stars and there are hills with killer views.
It is a little close to the city (light pollution) for all the stars to come out.
I would give it a try. Follow it up with a visit to Mount Palomar. in October there is an open viewing with a stargazing club. Enjoy
Wait a little in the year smog cover now but you may experience city lights pollution take your chances
You can do whatever you want here, but bad air quality right now due to surrounding wild fires though.
