They are supposed to have a 10 day stray hold if an animal is microchipped. This is to give owner chance to be contacted and respond. They cannot be relied upon to do this since they euth much quicker when shelter is full or animal has medical issues
It varies...they state they wait a certain time period (i believe a week). But its known that they dont wait the full week. For some pet owner who end up going found there pet put to sleep within 2 days.
