No kill shelter unless deemed an aggressive dog with 2 incidents. No time limit, they find rescue placements for unadopted dogs/cats. No surrender fee, have nite drop off location available, but highly recommend drop off during business hours. This way you get to give information on animals habits, likes, dispositions... staff very caring and loving towards animals.
Animals Friends of The Valley is a kill shelter, they stated only 5% of the dogs are euthanized and 95% are adopted, but still the oldest, the sick, that no one wants to adopt or the breeds that are least popular like pit bulls, may likely be selected for the euthanize row. Like most of public shelters they need to create space for the overwhelming arrival of stray and surrended pets. Unfortunately a lot of dog owners enjoy the pet while young and surrender when old or are unprepared for commitment with a dog.
Yes it's a kill shelter. Because of limited resources, it has a small window of floor time. Placement depends on the clean bill of health the Vets decide on what. The fastest way is if you get involved and maybe foster older dogs and promote him/her with friends/family/anyone interested. They do not charge if you do the midnight surrender.
