Ok so I just got a call saying that my social security number was used illegally and that all benefits would stop. Is this a scam? They asked for my name but I did not give it to them.

They wouldn't just call they would send a letter.

It's totally a scam . Look on you tube there are a lot of people fighting the scammers they show you a lot of different scams out there . Its good to know if the person calling is trying to steal from you. There is a scammer that sends you a letter saying they're from social security it's about burial insurance and you fill out the card in a couple of weeks they contact you then make an appointment with you to come to your home. Social security doesn't have burial insurance . Im so thankful to the people on YouTube for making me aware of scams and the dangers that are out there.
