The escondido humane society is a no kill shelter. That would be your best bet to find a home. I came in today and they are almost out of animals to adopt. Which is an excellent thing.
They only euthanize animals that are completely unadoptable they don't euthanize just to make room like the county pound so if it does come to that they will not put your cat down there has been a cat there for 2 years in that will sit there until they find his forever home so please don't think they'll just euthanize the cat
SDHS will only euthanize an animal if they have a severe medical or behavior problem that would stop them from living a healthy and happy life. I'd recommend calling SDHS and do a phone consult. If the animal doesn't meet the requirements for adoption then you don't have to relinquish them to SDHS, you could find a rescue that could take them. I highly recommend trying to contact SDHS first as they have one of the lowest euthanasia rates in the country.
Janis, try contacting private rescues such as 'friends of cats' or PAWS. If they do not have room for peaches - network! These organizations really care and they may have suggestions of other places to call.
