Very friendly staff that truly cares about your animal, I took my cat Doug in there and was out within an hour for his rabies shot.

Friendly staff. They're very helpful explaining issues. Walk ins are a $10 charge, so make an appt if your issue isn't urgent. Great prices on pet licenses & the vaccines that they offer ..easy license registration process includes a smart phone scan pet tag that shows pet contact info for a safe return home. I volunteer for pet rescues..it's terribly sad how many un tagged pets end up in shelters as strays & are euthanized if not adopted 😓 Please tag your pets! If you need to re home your pet, please go to Facebook & search Pet Rehoming or Rescue organizations in your area..or ask the Humane Society for suggestions or help finding an option for your precious pet..

I appreciate that they took the cockatiel that showed up on my back porch this morning, but their attitude was so condescending, like I was trying to trick them into taking my long-owned pet. Thought I was doing the right thing by turning it in, didn’t expect to be treated like a big loser.

Counselors are nice and the pets are adorable. Amelia did a great job matching us with a sweet, needy, and adorable cat. Just a day after her adoption, we had to take our cat into a emergency vet for surgery because her spay incisions where hemorrhaging, infected, and she was running a fever. Yet, the humane society didn't inform us of any of this. Just that she had inflammation and with some medication would ease it within a few days. I am concerned the humane society did not give my cat a proper exam, to where they could properly diagnose her and inform us of the severity of her health before we made our decision. When I contacted them to inform them of what had happened and inquire about getting my vet fees reimbursed, I was eventually contacted back by the director of the facility! But she had only called to inform me that they would be unable to assist with reimbursing us the vet fees. Mind you, at this point I had not even given her my full reasoning or argument on why I felt entitled to the reimbursement. EDIT- A week later and we just got word that our reimbursement was approved. Thank you to the Humane Society for working with us to get this figured out.

The escondido humane society is a no kill shelter. That would be your best bet to find a home. I came in today and they are almost out of animals to adopt. Which is an excellent thing.
You need to contact SDHS. You can also look at their online listings of cats available for adoption; this is just Google Maps. (Good luck!)
If you are over 55 no charge, but can give a donation.
Hi Meghan, I work at San Diego Humane Society and our appointments open 48 hours in advance. We have many available right now. Thank you for your interest in adopting! Here's information on our adoption process: https://www.sdhumane.org/adopt/adoption-process/.
Best place for the cats...great staff there. They were compassionate and very helpful in my time of need.
I believe they will
Yes. Look on their website for applocation. https://www.sdhumane.org

Try Vetco clinics,
There's only one now but people should check the website sdhumane.org to keep track.
Anytime Monday threw Friday before 5pm at the Oceanside location on airport road, or Escondido as well.
Marvalee, I'm very sorry to hear about your cat. We're here to support you when the time has come to say goodbye to a cherished pet. You can find more information about our humane euthanasia services and schedule an appointment here: https://www.sdhumane.org/services/euthanasia/
You don't need an appointment to see adoptable animals. You need an appointment for certain services like vaccines. You can find all the details on their website at sdhumane.org In 2022, the San Diego campus started remodeling their adoption building, so until that's finished, if you adopt at that campus, you will first have to look at available dogs online and then you get to meet the dog you're interested in. This only applies to dogs at the San Diego campus, until construction is done. Oceanside, El Cajon and Escondido campuses are not affected and you can walk in to see dogs there.
Call the gaines street location and ask them to transfer you
I work at San Diego Humane Society and we have lots of different kinds of volunteers, so you can check out our website: https://www.sdhumane.org/support-us/volunteer/. If you're specifically interested in volunteering on-site at our Oceanside Campus, volunteers need to be at least 16, but our volunteer recruitment and onboarding are suspended until further notice because of the pandemic. You can keep an eye here for any changes: https://www.sdhumane.org/support-us/volunteer/oceanside-campus.html.

Yes, the San Diego Humane Society takes in puppies.
San Diego Humane Society in Oceanside can take a baby chick if it's injured. It will likely be transported to the city of San Diego where Project Wildlife will care for it. They have the equipment and personnel necessary to aid wildlife.
The cats 8 months and older are 25 and the kittens are 125
Yes also last chance on Mission accepts donations
Hey Logan, I copied and pasted the info below from the website. You may also get school credit for community service. At the Oceanside campus, youth ages 16 and 17 can volunteer for positions with dogs, cats, rabbits, and office roles. At thr San Diego campus, volunteers ages 14 or 15 can apply for the Animal Care Program. These volunteers must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who is also an approved volunteer, at all times while volunteering.Volunteers aged 16 or 17 may volunteer unaccompanied. At the Escondido campus, all volunteers must be 18 or older.
