Most household batteries including rechargeables can be. Not sure about car batteries. Make sure to put a piece of tape on the + (bump) side for fire protection in the battery bin.
Maximum size I think is 2 foot by 2 foot by 2 foot.
As mentioned, Recology takes household batteries and electronics. Batteries need both positive and negative terminals protected/covered with either a strip of clear packing tape over the ends or by putting batteries individually in clear, sealing bags (like an old ziploc or a bread bag tied). This is to ensure safety, especially during transportation.
