I have been contacted by voice mail from a company that said that my social security number is being dropped because it was being compromised and I was supposed to press 1 for more details. I didn't press 1 and am asking you if this was legitimate?

This just happend to me today. Earlier in the day i was contacted by another male asking for the last 4 of my ssc number. My name and my zipcode then i received the voicemail? Should I contact ssc anyway??

It definitely is a scam, I received a call like that on Friday. Then I was thinking, they cannot suspend you social security number

It's a scam. The Social Security Administration will not call like this. They'll send you a letter and let you know if they intend to call.

It's a scam. I had the same thing happen to me yesterday. They do not disable or suspend your ssn number. Just hang up and block the number. Never click on links on the emails either. For your social security info or banking needs. If u have any questions call your local office or bank.

I would LOOK UP the number for social security and call them and ask or go to your local ss office! But NEVER EVER answer ANY personal questions over the phone no matter what they say!!

It sounds little Fishy did they call you right back? I would call the SSA on Monday make sure it was truly an employee of SSA
