Weekdays in the fall, weekends the park will get crowded and only has limited parking
Best time to visit is at the change of the seasons coming from Summer to Fall, or from Winter to Spring.
Anytime during daylight hours
Lost Maples is a beautiful State Park so anytime is good however this is Texas and the summer gets very hot, fall you get to see the autumn colors on the trees and then winter and spring the cooler weather is good for hiking
Fall and spring, but get there early as they close the park when full.
As it becomes fall it the best time
It's very busy when the leaves change. Other times of the year it's not crowded.
Best time to visit is around February or March, because it's still not too hot here but it's warm enough to go swimming. But I think if you just look at the weather ahead of time and don't go on a really hot day, you'll have a great time
If you want to see the leaves changing color, late October early November, but you have to book early.
It's a great hike anytime. However, fall is more colorful when the leaves change colors.
Like others said, fall is popular due to the change in leafs, but if you plan to camp you have to book several months in advance to secure a spot. These last couple of years it was too warm, so the leafs went from green to brown. I went on September, which was still a little bit too warm to hike during the day. But you can swim at the pond, which is by a primitive camping area about one mile in to cool down.
