I don't think so. Last week, we went & it was so full that some of us had to park on the grass. That wed. & we thought that it should not be so crowded, but it was. Be prepared for slippery places. They've handles to hang on to part of the way.
Not really a part of the question but for me when driving from San Antonio, I find it quicker to take HWY 16 to FM 337 then follow the signs; just more convenient than the directions Google maps provides.
I'm sure it's open, i just checked their facebook, twitter and web page. Office opens at 8:00AM, but they close the entrance when parking reaches capacity, about 10:30 on Sundays. Was there day before yesterday, about 20% colors left.
