Can I sleep with my tent and my dog there? Just find a spot and stay the night or is that not aloud just anywhere?

As far as i know you can just find a spot as long as it's 100 yards from the trail, any streams. We saw lots of backpackers while we were hiking. I researched afterwards and I guess you can just set up!
