Went there a day after a storm so there was a few branches down and a couple of small trees crossing the north trail. Saw fresh deer tracks, spotted an orchid in an old oak tree, many air plants. On the south loop the boardwalk is nice, all shaded above the swamp. You can get a few glimpses of the Cotee river along the way after the boardwalk the trail narrows and the ground is full of moss and roots. There's a playground by the small parking area with one wheelchair spot though the trails are not wheelchair accessible

It is a large nature area, lots of vegetation and trees. two different areas of trails. not a lot of foot traffic which made it peaceful. a few different species of birds and along the back side of one of the trails was a surprise to me.. COWS! (Look, but don't touch or feed please)

Ok... you can't review this place without addressing the drive in. It's total Hills Have Eyes kind of life. Pretty sure at least half of these dilapidated mobile homes are meth labs. The other half are murder houses, all of them, no doubt, crime scenes- all on either side of poorly maintained rutted dirt road. If you survive the drive in there is a small parking area and playground with a few picnic benches and a house that I'm not sure is an actual home or a visitor center. As you walk back to the trails you can hear the lingering sound of angry dogs barking, gunfire and female screams. I'm sure the state police will be contacting me later for a witness statement. The trail itself is rugged, so wear good shoes. Some of it is marshy so keep that in mind. At the end of our walk we sat in the playground area, one couple carrying a dear skull (i kid you not) and playing horror movie music loudly over a small speaker entered the trails. Over all not impressed. I gave 2 stars simply because we survived.

Nice boardwalk. Lots of bugs so bring bug spray and make sure to check for ticks after walking the trails. Part of the trail was blocked with over grown brush so the whole trail isn't available. There is a grand cypress tree off to the right on the boardwalk and is very grand and beautiful! Very private and quiet place to enjoy nature.
