Campsights are not on the river. They are inland because if river floods it's bank the sights won't be effected. If you are in a boat you can tie up and sleep on board. There is a fee for over night says.
Not sure how close
Michelle, technically, the cabins are really close to the water at the east side of the campground, but there is a brief woodline and muck. There isn't a river view, boat, or fishing access from the campground if that's why you're asking. The access to those three things is about 1/4 mile from the campground in the day use area. Michelle, you don't have to take the ferry. You are more than welcome to take your own boat. If it's a motorized boat, you must tie off at the wooden floating docks. That is free for day use as long as you don't connect to the water or electric. If you have a kayak or canoe, you can drop in from the parking lot next to the metal floating dock and paddle into the marina. Where you see the rental canoes and kayaks, there is a step and rail for paddlecraft. You can pull your boat out of the water and stash it behind the ranger station while you explore the island.
You can go on your own boat.
