Was told over the phone to come in person to fill out an application for a dog in which the dog was available. Drove 40 miles (80 miles total) to be told that they were “holding” the dog to see if the owner will take him back. This was reg flags for me, most places, once you surrender and animal you do not have precedence over other potential adopters at all. I filled out an application around 10 days ago they said they would get back to me and they haven’t. The dog is still available on the website. The facility though was nice, the lady at the front desk though barely paid attention to us, made us go back to see the dogs by ourselves. Overall bad experience here. We did not like how lack of how unprofessional this place was, filling out an application on a laminated piece of paper, no clipboards. We went elsewhere to find our family member, was approved within an hour there, with a much better experience. It’s a shame, but I will not be returning to West Volusia Humane Society again. I’m sure other people have has better experiences and that’s great, but I just did not. I hope these fur babies find wonderful fur ever homes.

Yes. I was a volunteer in January but health reasons have stopped me now. They are always looking for volunteers.

The bus is not part of the West Volusia Humane Society they just park at our location you would have to contact the Volusia County Spay Neuter Clinic at 386-323-3575 for information on the bus.

We are very sorry for your loss. but yes we would be able to take the donation.
Due to their insurance carrier, they are not allowed to accept volunteers under the age of 18. My kids wanted to volunteer for the summer and this was their response.
the adoption fee for a puppies under 6 months of age is $150.00

This location is a non-kill. One of yhe reasons we love them and make donations. Small but better than Halifax for that reason! Recently made renovations to the dog kennels.
West Volusia humane society does not have any medical staff or supplies on the property. Halifax humane society has the reddinger clinic for low cost spay or neuter. Volusia county has a clinic for that need. 386-736 -2700 ask for spay neuter department of animal control.
