You can drive around on some of the salt plane but just know that every piece of exposed metal will be rusty after 24 hours. There's also a lot of backroads with public hunting land around the lake. I don't know that there is anywhere designated for offroading.
No. You do drive out but a car can do it but it's definitely not a "muddin" good time.
