According to their website: there are 64 tent sites (only) at City of Rocks, some are walk-in only (walk-ins are restricted to paying one night at a time). Seven restrooms are available within this campground. Fees are $12.72, with a reservation fee of $10.60. Reservations can be made via the park website at ReserveAmerica. There are also 3 group sites available. One is remote and primitive (vault toilet) with a coral for equestrian campers. Two other group camps are non-primitive sites, each having a restroom available. Smokey Mountain Campground near the east entrance (outside) is listed as having six sites with a coral for equestrian campers, restroom, water, electricity, and showers available.
Yes, primitive camping. Very much rustic. Super small hotel / motel accommodation close by.
The one we go to regularly is the Smokey Moutain CG. They have full hook ups-water and power- as well as showers and flush toilets. There are a lot of sites close together but the way they are arranged makes it more quaint than the way it looks on the map.
Some very cool campsites that go back into the rocks! I stayed in one during fall that was back in a grove of aspens the yellow leaves were gorgeous.
All sites within are tent camping... You can do reservations and I believe it is $10 (on your honor) to stay at a site. There are rangers that go around but I always pay so I don't ever have a problem. If you have a generator there are large enough sites for your RV but no hook ups.
No hookups or plumbing or anything, unless you wanna go to Smokey Mountain. We just tent camp in the City when we go.
I didn't camp there but it looked like tent camping, rustic.
