You can walk the small garden but you can't go in the house. Only ranger led tours allowed in. Tour size limited to 8 maximum and there's a fee. Ranger suggested we book it 2 to 3 weeks in advance. John Adams would have laughed.

This is the worst run national historic site I've visited. Tours are unreasonably and unnecessarily small. On a summer day when 4 additional people had gathered to listen to the rangers introduction, other rangers interrupted to check for tickets and yell at those wout them that they couldnt join the tour. Then stood around talking to one another, instead of providing additional tours beyond the handful of people they let in. No surprise they're too incompetent to rub a shuttle bus. I've never encountered such unfriendly, hostile, and incompetent rangers. Very different than our others experiences.

We took the tour, and it was well worth it. The park rangers were so professional, passionate and informative. I would highly recommend taking the tour and spending some time on the grounds.

The park ranger Allison was an excellent story teller & full of facts. Her enthusiasm made the trip worthwhile. Fun fact - the 2 houses (John Adams & son John Quincy Adams) have nearly all original material including flooring.

The grounds are open but, if you want to go inside the houses, you need to pick up a shuttle down the street at the visitor center and then go as a group, on a tour
No
Usually just a couple of hours. Unless you want to spend more time on the grounds and garden. It is a truly beautiful place.
No
Yes you can. I have one also.
If you are passing through Quincy, MA. To view the mansion you can park on Adams ST. In front of the Adams Mansion and walk the 1/8th of a mile to the visitors center. You can buy tickets and souvenirs there. Get there early.
I believe that would be the latest I would go. You use a parking garage that leads to the visitors center. You join a group. The tour starts at the visitors center where you make your reservation then goes to the actual birthplace of John Adams and then on to the Peacefield mansion. A trolley takes you to all the sites. You shouldn't have any problems. It's an awesome historical gem.
Good Friday is not a federal holiday.
There is a fair amount of walking. I would wait until summer for dry surfaces.
