The beach is almost a mile long hike, round trip, mostly through sand, from the parking lot. I'd recommend going a few more miles further east to Pier Park or Bay County Pier for something more wheelchair friendly.
There is wheelchair access to parts of the park, however the beach is not easily accessible for wheelchairs.
There isn't wheel chair access to the beach. Part of the way is very soft sand. There are areas with great views of the inlet that he should not have problems with.
They also have a beach wheelchair that can be borrowed
The sand on the path after the lake, through the dunes, is very deep. You can loop through the forest on the right and come out at a point onto of a hill. There you can look over the sand dunes and see the water. Pretty spot with a bench. Bring mosquito spray if you go through the woods.
It would be a really long walk for you and I don't think his wheelchair the electric one anyway could get him to the beach but they are having a lot of activities check out Facebook Friends of Camp Helen there are people dedicated to keeping that Park and Beach pristine! Also lots of activities there on Wednesday evenings and I'm talking like picnics and really cool nature walks and a little Museum that the park ranger works at and s'mores even though you can't camp overnight it closes at Sunset around 8 p.m. Hope this helps! You can probably see the water but it would be really tough to get down there and get in the water with his chair I have one too but have to use the old-fashioned one to get near the beach with someone pushing me.
The main access and inlet beach near the life guard tower does have a ramp i believe
