The only time I could smell the smoke was on the way down the ramp to the plane. Nothing but fresh air in the plane.

I'm not sure about the airport but the planes have been advertised as fresh outside air every several minutes. But that is information from before the fires and smoke.

Flying with Southwest you will definitely be able to get bulkhead seating, I was flying with my dog last week on Alaska and was not seated in the bulkhead... it really depends on the airlines and have nothing to do with the airport
