It is not required! It is not a state park it is affiliated with the Omaha zoo but your zoo membership will not get you in.
You can add a writer to the Omaha zoo membership that should pay for itself in one family visit. I've been going since they first opened.
Otherwise, it's like $7.50/adult and $5/child to visit. There is a separate membership for the safari park.
