You can either pick one out from the map at the front desk that shows availability. Or you can get a parks pass and go in if you want to see the site before you rent it. That can be helpful from telling how much shade you will have at a particular site to any issues like low lying spots that will collect water if it rains. Last time I stayed there, the cook station on the fire pit was so badly damaged I couldn't cook at my site. Had I looked first I would have taken the site next to mine instead. Just food for thought.

Yes, you can tent camp and its like 15 a night..
