It totally depends on the "older folks" in question. This is not a maintained, pleasure/casual trail. It's a path that is only somewhat cut out/established from irregular use. It was a bit overgrown when we did it this past September. But if you hike often, you won't think much of it and you'll find your way. It's by no means easy, but well below technical and/or difficult. But if you're comfortable with these things, it's so worth it! The gifts at the end are truly once in a lifetime stuff. After traveling the US for over a year, this still remains one of my favorite natural wonders.

I suppose that would depend on their level of fitness and mobility. If they have any mobility issues I wouldn't think this trail would be a good fit. The hike has a fairly steep hill that can make you a bit tired. Just make sure you take the correct trail that goes more on top of the valley. There is a trail worn in that leads you up the middle of the valley. It has some difficult spots.
