Because it's Newport and it's beautiful
This Marriott is the worst. Most of the rooms face inside the hotel and it is very noisy as anyone can walk by your window and there is no fresh air (on the ocean) to be had. The hotel should be torn down and redesigned. It is not worth $100 something/night let alone $630 and up.
Newport is crazy, people go here to be crazy!
That is pricy for a non summer rate. Could have been a conference or event and they love when people will overpay to be at the conference hotel.

You have all kind of hotels...this is a tourist place. Expect anything on this island.

We did not pay that much
Location and time of year. Check back in January. The price will be much less. That's the way it goes in the prime areas and Newport is one of them in the summertime.
