You could probably park in town, behind the Presbyterian Church 2 South Main and get the free shuttle to the beach. But you would need to get their early.
Coopers Beach is rated in the top 10 Beaches in the country. It's gorgeous, wide, white sand. Very family friendly. The water can be rough. I think the Cut further down the coast is more child friendly, with small pockets of bay water that for natural pools that kids can hang out in.

It really is a R&R beach unlike lets say Coney Island or a Jones Beach that tend to fill with a lot more younger more active crowds.
