Not really, it's about a 6 mile drive which may take up to 20 min to reach from downtown Portland

Portland Head Light is located about five miles from Portland.

I bike there all the time from the old port...not to far away.30 mins or so on my road bike

Try to stay at a hotel close to old Port like I did and the hotel shuttle will take you to the harbor free and pick you up or walk which is only five tenths of a mile from the Holiday Inn by the Bay.
