Yes, but you will find the best "shelling grounds" at the Point, the farthest Southwest end of Oak Island during low tide. Follow East Beach Dr. past Middleton, where East Beach changes to West Beach Dr. Follow W. Beach to the Dead End at the Public Parking Beach Access and continue walking Southwest along the beach until you reach the end of Oak Island at the Lockwood Folly's Intracoastal Waterway Inlet (The Point). About 250-300 yards accross the inlet you will be looking at Holden Beach. The ocean current generally tends to pull to the South and West which ultimately brings the most shells to that end of the island. Low tide at The Point is a shellers "Honey Hole". Enjoy your vacation.
Yes. Once Caswell beach construction is completed, that is a perfect spot for shelling.
Yes, it was a good place to find sea shells, at low tide, early in the morning.
The best place my kids found is south end of island while tide is out. Enjoy a good time.
All of the island is a seashell hunter's paradise, but for the best shells go to the point (opposite end from lighthouse ) at low tide!
