Yes you can still get tickets at the gate. We purchased ours online and has a specific time to be there.
They were selling tickets at the gate during our visit but online is preferred. I suppose you risk the chance of no tickets available if you just show up.
Since they are doing Timed Tickets, I believe you have to purchase in advance.
