Is there a real playground in Occidental square with swings, slides, and climbing bars or is it just the blocks, hoola hoops, and other passive toys that I see scattered in photos ?

Passive toys. They are brought out in the day.

Yes there is a small real playground. A small spider web climber and rope bridge. There are outdoor games placed in the area around 11am. This is more of a "outdoor" space than a park.
