The very nature of Mt Washington makes any trip by any means up the mountain subject to change at the literal last moment. Especially in the autumn. Taken from the cog railway website: "All schedules, fares and motive power are subject to change without notice. Train trips may be shortened due to extreme weather. In this event, passengers will be provided a credit toward the purchase price of their ticket." It may not be "maintenance" but rather ice. And sometimes things do break, requiring maintenance, and those things are not planned ahead of time.
Smooth ride for us...
I never had that issue.
