We also went on Tuesday and had snow as deep as our hip! Lots of little hills to sled down, though we didn't stay right next to the parking lot, we trekked up and over for a bit to distance ourselves from others. Remember to buy your $5 parking pass in advance at the shop in Arnold. Snow is forecasted on Saturday. We had 3 hours of great fun!
I was there on Tuesday, it was nice there was a lot of snow but the roads were clear. I went in my camry, regular tires no chains needed at the time. Just check the weather before you go.
You will most likely be required to put on chains if it's snowing. The chain stop is past Arnold and close to Dorrington. Be cautious of the traffic... on busy weekends, like Presidents Day, there are a lot of cars, and they pull over in long lines to put the chains on. Also, after the highway is plowed, they often close the parking lot and there are cars parked along the side of the road, occasionally causing disruption in the traffic because the plowed lanes are not wide enough for three cars. It's not common... But it does happen.
