They drive the dogs nuts for sure and there is little room like this elsewhere in the city so you know I would suggest holly park, twin peaks, mussel rock cliff in pacifica...for something like that...mussel rock cliffs have great area in the parking lot where you can walk a path while flying is safely....might be better...just wherever you go be safe...
Drones are prohibited at fort funston, model planes are okay, but ill advised since energetic dogs have been known to attack them
I have seen both drones and r/c planes operated at Funston, mostly from the hang glider launch area, but also elsewhere. Ive also seen people fly them over the parking lot(s), and in one case crash into the side of a parked car!!! overall they are less annoying or dangerous than the hang gliders who seem to give little regard to the other park users that walk the path immediately next to the landing zone...
Drones don't bother my dog at all she could care less have fun
I'm not certain as I only go there with my dog. I have never seen drone operators doing their thing while hang gliders are up. However I did see one drone operator flying while there were no hang gliders at ff. As to the legality I would point you towards the website for ff
Don't know about the rules but if you go about 1 mile south of the fort ( behind the horse stables) you find some great spots/ cliffs above the ocean for you to fly high. Enjoy.
