Make sure you have good tent stakes, the wind can get kinda crazy in the campgrounds. Also, make sure you take time to embrace the water activities they offer, there's a lot of beauty that can only be seen by the water
If you are camping in a trailer or other RV, be aware that some of the sites have a decent slop / grade to them making it difficult to get level. There are high tension power lines overhead at the far end of one of the loops, if that is a concern of yours.
Cindy nailed it. If at all possible, plan ahead. Try and come to check out the sites in person. Pics aren't always what they seem. Also take in account of the restroom situation and how far you are from them. This is helpful if you have small children or physically challenged friends or family with you.
Check out the DNR website for descriptions/dimensions/photos of the campsites. They are all nice, but some are not level, which could be a challenge if you are in a tent. I also agree with Derek Watson to enjoy the water. Heavner Canoe Rental is nearby and even rents right from the campground on weekends.
