I can tell you that when I tried to sell them some books. That were going for 75.00. They only offered 5 bucks.
You'll get more money for new and rare books. If you want to sell your 2018 book that isn't hugely popular (in other words, they don't already have 3 copies on their shelves), this is how you'll make money at HPB.
Yes they do but old and rare books. You will have to ask them about their formula. I would say they are a bit on the low side for their offers.
Yes. The value of a book can change drastically. Long ago The Davinci Code was wildly popular then everyone and their brother bought it and you see a copy in just about every box of books. Depends on if it's coming out as a movie soon, or if someone famous recommends it. Maybe it's just a rare printing, or signed. The truth is they see TONS of books, even if a hardback is in new condition if it's out in paperback, it's probably going to take up space on the shelf for awhile before it moves, if it will sell quickly, like under a week, more, if its going to sit there awhile or take a specific customer to come in and buy it it's kind of a gamble on what they can sell it for. Condition plays a big factor, but doesn't necessarily mean you'll get more for it unless it's in demand or they really need material for that specific section. Value can vary store to store because different areas have different customers that read more of a particular genre/category than another.
Thank you on the such quick answers, i find it helpful on my decision, and one last question would it be best to bring them run of the mill and common books that I have in shear overabundance and know that they are at a low value, and do they have an amount of books that they will buy at one time? Or could you say bring in 1000 plus books at a time for them to go through? And does anyone know of any shop who takes that many books at one time?
Yes, by my experience they do not pay very much for books in general. But, on the other hand you can buy books at the very good price.
I'm not completely sure on this because I haven't asked these questions.
