Only some or the spots say 1hour. Others are 2hr and then the spots with no sign are 12hr. I have been one of the homeless that has stayed there. Listen- i own a corvette, its my third and while a bit tight i dont mind sleeping in it at all. And where else can you go that is as safe as the rest stop? I mean that's what you're supposed to do there, be in your car for more than a couple minutes without having the cops run up on you.
The restrictions are based on proximity to the restrooms / info / vending areas vs. further less desirable spots. Just use your common sense...
I'm almost certain there's parking spots farther from the restrooms that have an eight hour limit. The DOT doesn't want people taking up all the spots near the restroom if you're staying a while.
U can sleep there..im sure its so thry can make sure homeless problem doesnt start there..if u are just in your car they dont say anything...i have slept there many times before driving into the city
I've never had any problem in there 24/7? I say 24/7 cos I'm a niteowl traveler ... It's always over crowded in the car park, tho. Large Rats or some kinda critters live in those plant boxes at night...just sayin.. They never bothered me-just observed them moving round at night.. Not aggressive critters... Long tails ..maybe they were rats..? Hmmm. Do not feed them ...they probably bite..yikes.. Hantavirus Virus..? Keep your hands and children out of those planters
Really dumb rules but the near by neighborhood doesn't care fore the folks who make the rest stop their perminant home.
Reststops now you may pull in for 8 hours and rest so driving conditions remain safe get company business license and relax
When I was there, it didn't seem to matter. I was there with my husband on his semi over night. I noticed cars there over night and it looked as these people lived in them. There was a camp of people living in the woods just off the bathroom. Then there people sleeping in vans in the camper parking lot. Also I saw in the women restroom a lot of personal hygine going on that happens when a sink is only source of cleanup and getting water.
There are other spots to park in that are not 1 hour...I believe that you can stay there for up to 12 hours.
