Technically that is not a transaction the DMV is making appointments for as it can be done online. You will need your registration card or title, go to the website, right on the front page it says "Renew vehicle registration". It will ask for your title number (the whole thing) and the last 4 digits of your VIN. Then just go through the motions of doing it online. It takes 15 business days for the registration and card to get in the mail, but you can download and print your registration card online for free. https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/dmvnet/Vehicle_Registration/intro.aspx

You might be able to get tags on line.
Appointments are booked out through next month for Tyson's, Franconia, Arlington, Manassas, and Prince William.
You can do same day appointments too.
