I had a great experience adopting my first cat in September 2020. The staff was helpful and friendly. It was easy to call and make an appointment and the adoption process was smooth and time efficient. Thank you SPCA Florida for my forever family member.
Paula Huntley
The staff at the SPCA was amazing. They told us a heartbreaking story of our little boy, who we have adopted. Since we already had a service dog at home, we needed to schedule time to come back so she and he could meet. When we went today the staff were overjoyed with the fact that both our dog and Tobias were amazing together. I would highly recommend if you’re looking for a fur animal member to please look at SPCA. The staff does an amazing job, even with being short staffed. They truly love what they do and they love the animals and it’s clear because the animals seem happy. Thanks for our new family member Tobias. The Huntley Family

The staff and volunteers were amazing and so friendly. The women who showed us the puppy/small room was very educated on the dogs that were available for adoption knew most by name and their info without even having to check their paperwork.. They took the time to answer any and all of our questions or concerns we had as a family. We came in just expecting to look and see if we could find a pup that would fit into our family and we did we left with Ms.Peyton a week ago today. She's a handful lol but we love her and she thriving.. THANK YOU SPCA! Lakeland, FL

Got my dog scrappy there. The best thing that’s happened to me in a long time!! Great staff adoption cost a little more than I thought it would but I hope the money goes to helping future dogs in need. Highly recommend this place!
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
Not sure you can always call and ask and the website should have information
There is a pet food thrift store in Lakeland, Dez something?. They will help with food as well. And most food banks have limited pet food if you ask them. Good luck.
Humane Society .you just fill out a little paperwork talking about income and they will give you 15 lb of Food per month
Yes, we do. Please see pricing at: https://www.spcamedical.org/spayneuterpricing
I'm having the same issue currently. Your best bet tho, is to do some research and housebreak her yourself. Unfortunately, the only real way to housebreak a puppy is by doing it yourself in your home. Crate training will help a ton. If she refuses to tolerate her cage then limit her space in the house. Also try putting her on a strict feeding schedule, this will help you understand when she needs to use the bathroom. Make sure to reward her when she does use the bathroom outside.
We accept dogs & cats only.
Yes they do, my advice is to call before. With Watson going on in this planet, they may have questions before you take your fur baby
Hi Eric, please see information about free & low cost spay & neuter and request an appointment at: https://www.spcamedical.org/free-spay-neuter Or regular pricing at: https://www.spcamedical.org/spayneuterpricing
Prior to adoption all pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and come with a month of flea and heartworm prevention. We also offer veterinary services to the public in our Medical Center. For information and an appointment, please contact us at: 863-646-7722.
So sorry, but that one I'm not sure of. Google there # and ask. The one in Duluth MN does. Does
If I remember they were about $45. We adopted a large one for $75. The prices are listed with the dog's bio on pet finder.
Rabies shots are$14 and the microchip is $15.. if you are irregular at that bat otherwise you need to call to double-check. Good luck 👍
Thanks for considering SPCA Florida to care for your pet! Our current pricing is $14 for a one year rabies vaccine and $28 for a 3 year. We don't currently have any specials planned.
Thanks for considering volunteering at SPCA Florida! Please see information here: https://www.spcaflorida.org/volunteer/
Hi Judy, thanks for looking out for the cats! If you are needing someone to pick them up, please contact Animal Services in your area. We work with our local animal services and pick up many homeless pets directly from the. If you plan to bring them in yourself, please contact us for options at: 863-646-7722.
Yes we do! Please see our webpage about it here: https://www.spcaflorida.org/community-cats/
Hi Ann Marie, thanks for considering a rescue! Please check out our website for dogs available for adoption at: www.spcaflorida.org
Ok
That service has been discontinued. But please take a look at our website for our days that are designated for just vaccines.
Hi Julie, sorry for the delayed response. Thanks for your interest in Rue. She has been adopted but please be sure to check our website or visit us often to meet other cats who may meet your needs! https://www.spcaflorida.org/adopt-a-cat/
Thank you for your interest! We don't currently have any beagle puppies. You can view our other adoptable dogs here: https://www.spcaflorida.org/adopt-a-dog/ We hope you find your furrever friend!
https://www.spcaflorida.org/lostfoundpet/
We don't have any huskys right now! We get them off and on. There are alot of huskys living here in Florida, you can keep looking on our website SPCAFlorida.org
Contact the SPCA and speak with someone in the surrenders department. If they have space available, they will make an appointment for you to bring your dog in. You will need to bring their shot records and vet history. The SPCA will try to find a home for them.
I don't know if you can I don't think either I go there almost every weekend
Yes, they do
Phone the shelter instead of asking public.
What you're looking for is the Wellness Wagon on weekends.
You can call the SPCA and get any information that you need concerning adoption, shots, examinations..etc.
That's the only veterinarians that I use. They are very good, and reasonable. After all, they do it for the love of animals, not profit.
Small dogs- usely up to 20 In the middle- around to 40 Large dogs- around to 50/80 :p
Depends on where you go. I believe SPCA just does veterinarian work, adoption and training. When I adopted my baby (dog) I could only do those things. I had to go to a groomer, but that was back in 2014. So, I'm not sure if they've added a grooming service. I can refer you to some in Lakeland and in Bartow (if you live in these cities).
As far as I know they are still the cheapest vet around
Animal control in Winter Haven is free. It's on Decastro Road considered Winter Haven. Before garbage collections. I'm very sorry for your lost I know it sucks....
Agree, keep pets with you if at all possible or find a responsible friend. Most boarding kennels are full up. Don't leave them behind.
$30 for the exam.
You can bring the kitten to check for a microchip. We may not have space to keep the kitten if it is a stray dog. Contact the Admissions Coordinator to find space at: 863-577-4618.
HI Zanita, thanks for considering rescuing a pet! You do not need to live in Polk County to adopt. Please schedule an appointment at: www.spcaflorida.org/appointment or contact the Adoption Center at: 863-577-4615.
Also agree with Susan, don't do Craigslist go to the SPCA or Humane Society.
Thank you for considering volunteering with SPCA Florida! You need to be 16 or older. For more information or to apply, please visit: https://www.spcaflorida.org/volunteer
Please see pricing and information on replacing it at: http://www.polksheriff.org/animal-services/adoption-fees/other-fees/rabies-license-fees
If you go to the SPCA off brannen Rd you have to make a appointment if you go to the one off winter lake Rd out by the county dump you don't need a appointment and the adoption there is a whole lot cheaper than the SPCA off brannen Rd
For the SPCA in Lakeland very expensive adoption fees and schedule a appointment to go the one on winter lake Rd no appt required and very reasonable adoption fees
Call the SPCA they may be able to answer your questions.
Give them a call and let them know you're wanting to donate a cat to be adopted.
You need to call the SPCA and see if they have room to take them in. If you surrender them to the SPCA they will take care of their medical issues before attempting to adopt them out. They are no kill shelter. Because of that they have to have the space before they'll take you dogs. +1 863-646-4647

Hi Connor, adoption fees vary but generally start at $100 for kittens and $65 for adult cats. We have on average 200 cats & kittens available for adoption on any given day. Please see individual pricing on our website at: https://www.spcaflorida.org/adopt-a-cat
On their website they have a place you can submit a question
Hi Herb, please see pricing on our webpage here: https://www.spcamedical.org/spayneuterpricing We also offer lower costs for income eligible clients. Please call for more details: 863-646-4647.
The cost of adopting an animal varies, it also depends if they even have that breed in their kennels at the time. Dogs generally cost more, and if it's a puppy (referring to small because goldies are not small dogs full grown), they cost a lot more because puppies are a lot of work, especially medium to large dogs. Hope this helps.
Yes they are, but extremely busy. Leave a message and they actually get back to you pretty fast. 😁.. I foster for them and it's always a controlled chaos there 😉.. but they are the most awesome people who truly love critters!!
Yes we do. Please contact the Medical Center for information and an appointment at: 863-646-4647.
Your best bet is to give them a call especially on this type of question! Or check their website as they may be listed

Don't think so.
Yes, we do offer dental services. Please all our Medical Center for information and an appointment at: 863-646-7722.
Hi Aves, thanks for taking care of the dog and attempting to find it's owner! Due to the lack of space to hold strays, we recommend taking them to Animal Services in your area. They will scan the pet for a microchip to see if the owner can be found. SPCA Florida works with local animal services and intakes many pets from them if the owners cannot be found.
Hi Christina, thanks for considering rescuing a pet! Please visit our campus or website for dogs currently available for adoption. https://www.spcaflorida.org/adopt-a-dog/
Please contact our Medical Center to discuss at: 863-646-7722.
They are not a boarding facility. You can surrender them permanently or not.
Hi Summer, it depends on what services you need. Please contact us for specific information at: 863-646-7722.
Hi Kim, the fees may vary. Please see our website for info: https://www.spcaflorida.org/pet-surrender/
Thats a hard question. Surrendering one cat is hard enough and usually requires the owner to sign a lot of paperwork and most organization want you to try to find a home before they take them. If the cats are in good health and friendly most organizations will take them if you are persistent. My best recommendation is to use facebook marketplace animal lost and found and see someone can adopt a few. Also ask the spca or local shelter for alternate options they have contacts to other organizations that might be more helpful
Congratulations on your new puppy, and thanks so much for rescuing! We do offer Cherry Eye related procedures. Please call us at 863-646-7722 to schedule an appointment so that we may see how we can help you.
Yes. Please call our Medical Center for appointment availability at: 863-646-7722.
Hi Shirley, any of our adoptable pets and pictures available are on our website: www.spcaflorida.org.
Hello, Magui, we no longer have Wellness Wagon, but you can bring your animals to our Lakeland campus to receive vaccines. We're located in: 5850 Brannen Rd. South.
We're sorry to hear about your bunny. We only treat dogs & cats.

Hi Sabrina, thanks for reaching out to SPCA Florida to take care of your pet's needs! Please contact our Medical Center for options at: 863-646-7722.
You can bring the dog to our Medical Center to be checked for a microchip. You can also post on nextdoor.com or in the Facebook group "Lost & Found Pets of Polk County". https://www.facebook.com/groups/LostAndFoundPetsOfPolkCO/ We hope the owner can be found!
You would need to call and make an appointment with the surrender department.
They must be at least 15years of age
Hi Ray, sorry for the delayed response. If you still need our assistance please call us at: (863) 646-7722. For more information on surrendering a pet, visit: https://www.spcaflorida.org/pet-surrender/
Not sure about cats. We have always had dogs.
No - the Wellness Wagon does not run any longer. Please visit our home page to learn more www.spcaflorida.org
They give them to "foster moms" who take care of them until they are 2lbs or 8 weeks old, I believe and they receive shots, food and litter for FREE from SPCA!!!!
The Wellness Wagon has discontinued services after this weekend. SPCA Florida's Medical Center will continue honoring these prices through the end of the year as "Wellness Wagon Packages."
Hey Linda! Our animal residents change every day! To stay up-to-date with our current available animals, please visit our website! We hope you find a pup!
I was told if your looking for a specific breed that you could put your name on a list at the SPCA. Good luck.
You should call the shelter and ask.
They have a discount on spay and neuter if you are on food stamps
I don't think this would be the place, but it wouldn't hurt to call them to ask.
We recently surrendered a special needs kitten and there was no charge. However we did make a donation.
yes you can take it there and tell them he is a stray that wondered up in your yard and tell them that you already have dogs.
You'll have to call to find out. You might get lucky. I will pray for the best for you..
Call them and see what they say...I hope they together...
https://www.spcaflorida.org/pet-surrender/
Animal control and florida wildlife would be good contracts for this. Unfortunately SPCA only handles cats and dogs. Also all creatures animal clinic should have some good resources
Cindy wingfield.. if you are receiving SSDI, SSI then you qualify.. go to social security website print off, mail or fav your award letter to the spca, I suggest printing one anyways in case the email, or fax failed amd not go through correctly during the faxing process.. Also print one because if the email you sent failed to send orr was unable to load on the spca computer due to file format type, thus also ot it did come thru in the email and they try to open the pdf or .doc file format the computer may be unable to open the file if the spca has an old versionof adobe or whatever they use... if you are receiving ssdi or ssi or are getting both( I receive both) all together the fee for pre op exam, all meds, vet fees, take home medication, is only $25.00 I got my puppy fixed in july this year.. If your pup is not up to date on rabies vaccine they will charge you Separately. the shot is around 15- 25$.. they have puppy and adult packages tho ask about it. Exam, shots, deworming incl.
Where can I find more information on this program?
Yes call the SPCA and I'm sure they will help somehow or have some kind of answer for you it's really bad that people don't have their animals spayed or neutered because of this problem
Call the police with a non emergency call and they will show up and let you know what can be done. This should not be a 911 call it is not an emergency.
Yes please call them also on their website you should be able to see what cats they have just got in and who is up for adoption. Also check and post in nextdoor. Com to see if one of your neighbors have seen the cat
I would call them and see why...
They probably can and if not maybe direct you to the right group or person.
Give them a call and see if they can help you. I know they have mobile units that is cheaper to take your pet. Good luck to you. Another suggestion is to maybe do a Google search to see if any home remedies you can do to help your fur baby.
They don't work like a pet store. They have what people drop off or surrender. My guess would be no...since that is a very unusual breed.
Visit or call them directly
Take the pup to yhe spca in Lakeland they have greay vets there to take care of the pup
They are open on Saturdays for vet clinic and adoptions
Yes they will take in the kittens and try to adopt them out to a forever home.,
Not usually. You have to surrender them your self. If you don't want keep it. Your other option s to check with animal rescue in your area. And last but not least call your county's animal control and report the neighbor's for abandonment of the dog. Which is what I would do. Because if you take on feeding and care of the dog for very long counties animal control will consider the dog then becomes yours. So reoort them.
Ask them if they will give you a copy. .
I believe if looking for pets you must contact SPCA directly sir
The closest toll road to the SPCA is the Polk Parkway, about 2-3 miles to the north of the SPCA. If you are coming from the south, I would use hwy 60 to hwy 98 drive north to hwy 540A, drive west several miles to South Florida Ave (hwy. 37), turn right, it's a short distance to Brannen Rd. ... turn right and follow the signs.
For a cat its a base price of $75. Vaccinations, microchipping, if the cat is in heat or pregnant, etc that is an additional cost. There are grants that lower the cost for certain types of govt assistance.
They do occasionally especially with cats, but to the best of my knowledge there is no set schedule. It depends on how over run they are. I think they only waive the adoption fee tho.
Yes it is true I get my animals there's medication for fleas from SPCA I have two cats and one dog they cover both and heartworms meditation.. very caring people about your animals. That's the only place I go that's how much I trust them with my fur babies...
Take the kitten to SPCA and they'll check and give some medicine....don't wait
Thanks for helping her. The SPCA rents out traps for you to use to trap her and then take her to get fixed. Ask them about their community cat program. Only $25 to her fixed. TLC Petsnip in Lakeland has a similar program. Good luck!
I dont see why not,but i would call first to male sure
The Salvation Army does in Winter Haven, or go with Barb June
Need to call. My pup was spayed on Sunday but they may just do dogs from SPCA in the weekends.
Just give her a nice soft bed in a quiet place. She will take care of it from there.
You would have to call SPCA and find out about a payment plan. They do have one but I just don't know how it operates. good luck to you and your fur baby....
Thank you Barb Crider but they are closed till Tuesday don't know if my lily will make it till then
Didn't see any bunnies but call them & ask. After Easter is when people surrender them
Yes, is a crime. Call the police and report it.
Check the found reports on the spca's website.
U should bring them they have leashes there just the cheap generic ones that just wraps around the dogs neck but its a great place to go get a dog or cat
I'm sure if you go to SPCA website you can get all the information you need.
The SPCA have special rates for people on disability. Call them they will give you prices.
Google SPCA Wellness Wagon and you can find the dates and locations.
Why don't you phone them, rather than posting in a public forum!!
Call the cat man. He works for SPCA his name is Bruce. He beings cages and shows u how to set them. He picks them up cats get fixed and thwy do bring them back but they no longer multiply. They also treat tbose that can b treated. Forgot this is for wild animals ferrel. This also depends on what your county has chosen to do
The ASPC. They are affiliated with the SPCA adoption agency. They cover all animals.
You should also try contacting animal control
Craigslist has rescue just go in pets and put rescue in the Box somebody's going to pop up Florida Wildlife will probably not bother with you there's a lady in Auburndale name Joann Waters she's listed with the police department Humane Society or that is the animal control she's licensed with the state call her
Cages. They eo not just run around. But thewewy fsfo get exercise
Please all Lakeland spca for information I cannot help with this
I think it's 14 but you have to be accompanied by an adult.
I don't no what they change, but if you give them a call they will tell you
Call animal control I don't know number but you can look it up or call /look up spca number I'm sure they will give you the number
Hi Jason, SPCA Florida does not declaw cats. SPCA Florida believes scratching is a natural cat behavior. Declawing, an elective surgical procedure, is considered by SPCA Florida to be a form of mutilation. Please see more information about declawing here: https://www.spcaflorida.org/medicalcenter/declaw-statement/
Take him back. Obviously something went wrong with his surgery, and he is having abnormal pain for a reason. An infection, or internal bleeding. He needs to be checked out. The SPCA is real thorough about following up with their patients.
Yes the also run a few programs for your age group.
Yes they are, opens about 10 am
yes they are a no kill shelter
You should have received a certificate, if you did not get it from them, as far as the tags go you can get it from the vet, SPCA with the certificate, and Polk country animal control with the certificate. Both the SPCA and animal control will charge you $10 for the one year tag for altered dogs, if you got the 3 year shot both charge the same for that too
SPCA is great! I adopted last Sept. & my dog was spayed all shots up to date....I also received many discounts for Vet., Petco...etc.
You can either look at their website or call the shelter to find what you are looking for
Yes, the SPCA on Brennan Rd, Lakeland
Could be, but I would take the dog to a vet to be sure. There are types of lice that will live on animals.
They were very friendly when I left 5 kittens to be adopted out.
Yes go-to the hospital side and they will clip your dogs nails for $10. Petco also will clip dogs nails for $10 as well.
If you receive food stamps, va benefits, or SSD/SSI just being the award letter in and they will see what they can do to help you
They are not for sale. They are adoptable. If you go to website there's a link saying adoption. If you have trouble please don't hesitate to call Lakeland spca or you can go up and look too
There rules have changed since I was there...I don't know about the cat neuter. If I were you, I'd just call the medical center and ask. The number is on website. Or you can drive up and talk to someone in person.
You should call them. I seriously doubt that they are checking a Google generated page to answer potential customers.
Spca does not...you can try sunny days across the street. ..they might have availability or know someone who can.
And if you don't have any records they'll start from scratch
I believe the aspca is affiliated, call them for advice on animal abuse cases. If there is a loose animal, call Polk county animal control
I'm not too sure. I would give them a call and find out.
What breed are they
Depends on the breed, how old they are and the type of medical attention they got ...I adopted a parson terrier mix..he was an adult...it looks like someone tried to cut his and has a crukid tail. It doesn't hurt him, but he couldn't be around a broom or loud noises. some of these dogs have been harmed and some have no background history, so please be aware that some of these animals will need tons of patience until they learn to trust us again.
