Wonderful experience walking through the gardens. Roses everywhere, not even in full bloom yet! Wife and I spent 3 hours then found the free tour at 1pm. Worth another hour for certain. Tour wad great. Already want to visit again.

There's been so many updates and finished construction from the last time I was there. I was impressed. Great place to go on a date 💖 It was so much fun! We were greeted by a lady with a camera that told us how to pose and she took our pictures right before entering the Zoo. My date informed me that he is famous! 🤩 Lol .. We were able to stop and grab a beer at one of their snack bars (which was new to me too) and walk around. Not to mention all of the beautiful, protected, well kept animals with alot of personality! Great memory.

Absolutely-loved-it. Fantastic. Green all around, great for the lungs and circadian rhythm. Not hard, but might not take little kids who aren't used to a little hike. (Think tree trunks and mud, small hilly areas.) Really liked my time there, think we hiked about an hour. (We walked down from the gardens, through the rose garden, to the right past the playground and on a trail up around the back of the garden.)

The Portland Children's Museum is great, there is the Oregon Zoo, a free rose garden to explore and lots and lots of free trials at Hoyt that kids would love!
I got married at the Redwood deck which is in Hoyt Arboretum, further into the thick of the trees off of the Wildwood Trail. It's a beautiful deck that is surrounded by redwoods. Very intimate and peaceful. The pavilion is near there and also a nice spot for a reception area. You can get more details and book either spot through the Portland Parks and Recreation website.

Yes, and it is FREE! There are a handful of spots but the main three are just outside of the Max station elevator nearest the zoo, Hoyt Arboretum and the Gardens which is near both the Portland Japanese Garden and the Rose Garden. It runs year-round daily May-Oct and Weekends Nov- March. http://explorewashingtonpark.org/getting-here/#
Yes, it's in the general area. There are a few. I would say they are all pretty safe. Many kids having fun but everyone is wearing masks and still being careful!
The garden has its rates. there is a fine for picking up a $ 500 rose
If you arrive by subway, right outside you'll see the entrance to the zoo and a stop of the purple shuttles.
I believe there is a path you can use for running/jogging. You also have to keep in mind that it is a tourist attraction.
Admission fee is around 18 Dollars.. and sorry I'm not sure of any discounts
The park is sort of split up in a North end where the Portland Japanese Garden, Rose Garden, and the Elephant House Playground are and the South end where the Portland Children's Museum, World Forestry Center and the Oregon Zoo are. Hoyt Arboretum connects the two ends of the park. You can do a loop on the shuttle in about 30 minutes, or you can hop off at an attraction explore a bit and hop on a different shuttle on the loop.
Most people don't answer their own question makes my job much easier
Not. They redid the rail inside the zoo. Come check out the new section of the zoo with plants insects and mason bees! Right next to the train station.
From my understanding, the track needs to be improved before they will run between the Zoo and Rose Garden. There is some instability in the ground underneath some track segments.
The park is free to drive through or walk / take the train. However, the Zoo and the garden do charge entrance fees. The children's museum also charges for entrance. The zoo is about $ 40 for 2 adults. I'm not sure about the cost to go to the gardens or childrens museum. Parking is $ 10 for the day. ___________________________________ The park is free to drive or walk / take the train. However, the zoo and garden charge entrance fees. This doesn't really seem to become about Washington park. However, I'd recommend you simply take the bus from your home to downtown, then max to the rose quarters.
The Portland Water Bureau is doing work on their reservoirs in Washington Park, however this will not impact guests. All roads in the park are open, as all are major attractions. The zoo will be starting construction in several months on a couple of their exhibits, but it will remain open.
Sorry no camping allowed in the park. But there's plenty of other camping opportunities a short drive away
